Wison Engineering Delivers Coal–to-Methanol Facility to Guotai Chemical

Release time:2014-11-18

On 18 November 2014, Wison Engineering delivered a 400KTA coal-to-methanol facility to Guotai Chemical under an EPC contract. During the construction phase, Wison Engineering recorded 8.79 million safety man hours and achieved the goals of equipment materials acceptance at a time qualified rate of over 99.08%, welding at a time qualified rate over 98.08%, ITP inception at a time qualified rate of 100%, as well as zero significant safety and quality incidents, demonstrating Wison’s rich experience in the coal-to-chemicals industry.

For this project, Wison Engineering provided to Guotai Chemical one-stop services that included design, procurement and construction. Wison Engineering began detail design of the project in February 2012, taking only 24 months (excluding two winter breaks) to complete project construction. ='font-size:10.5pt;mso-bidi-font-size:12.0pt;font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";mso-fareast-font-family:宋体;mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-font-kerning:0pt;mso-ansi-language:EN-US;mso-fareast-language:EN-US; mso-bidi-language:AR-SA'>For this project, Wison Engineering independently completed the process package design for the C5+ feedstock separation, C9+ separation and selective hydrogenation and steam condensate recovery units. This process takes C5+, a by-product of the ethylene cracking unit, as feedstock, which is cut to produce C8 distillate. With advanced extractive distillation technology, the styrene from the ethylene cracking furnace can be extracted from C8 distillate to produce premium grade styrene. This process is a departure from the traditional oil cracking and hydrogenation process that not only produces additional high value styrene but also reduces hydrogen and energy consumption, allowing cost and investment savings for the large scale ethylene cracking unit and other benefits.
